Correcting The Diabolical Record of Marianna Spring and The BBC Verify Team

“For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” – John 3:20–21

For over a century, the BBC has acted as if they are “the divine authority” to investigate, scrutinise and verify anyone they deem fit to target.

It broadcasts allegations about individuals, organisations and public figures to millions of people under the propagandist banner of “public interest, impartiality and truth”. Yet when serious questions are put to the BBC about its own conduct, accuracy, bias and accountability, a very different pattern emerges.

Ordinary members of the public abused by the BBC and their staff quickly discover what many have experienced firsthand: complaints are ignored, evidence is dismissed, and legitimate concerns are stonewalled until critics run out of time, energy or resources. The BBC appears willing to hold others to standards that they are often unwilling to apply to themselves.

That is why Citizen BBC Verify exists.

The question that has echoed since the launch of BBC Verify in 2023 (by the disgraced ex-BBC News CEO Deborah Turness) is simple but essential: “Who verifies BBC Verify?”

The email below was sent to Marianna Spring and the entire BBC Verify team in pursuit of an answer on the 5th June 2026. At the time of publication, no response has been received.

Read this email carefully.

Because once you see the contradiction between what the BBC says it is and how it behaves when challenged, it becomes increasingly difficult to unsee.

Email to Marianna Spring

Marianna Spring,

Citizen BBC Verify (BBCVerify.org) has been launched by Citizen Intervention Global as part of ongoing investigations to scrutinise the BBC, the BBC Verify service and its staff.

BBC Verify has come under significant criticism, including from former BBC journalist Robin Aitken, stating it has fallen well short of the standards it claims to uphold.

In the spirit of truth, accuracy and public accountability, Citizen BBC Verify provides an answer to the question, “Who verifies BBC Verify?” This is because the British public needs to know how and where the BBC is abusing its Charter to force them to pay billions each year for propagandised and biased content deceptively in the name of public service and impartiality.

BBC Verify was announced by the disgraced ex-BBC News CEO Deborah Turness in May 2023. Since its inception, BBC Verify alone has cost the licence fee payer a minimum of £10 million.

The press and the public have been aghast at the hubris of the BBC to launch a service verifying any media coverage, except its own. Meanwhile, the BBC is in the process of responding to a $10 billion lawsuit from US President Donald J. Trump for deceiving citizens globally by manipulating footage.

Given the recent termination of BBC Verify’s Live Blog (for lack of use), we are approaching you for comment on the need for Citizen BBC Verify as well as the articles: The End is Nigh for the BBC… Verify That?! and The BBC’s ‘Progressive Madness’: Insider Exposes BBC Toxic Bias.

We request your response to the following questions:

  1. How can the BBC legitimately claim to verify the content of other media providers when it is prepared to present its content about others deceptively, such as in the case of Donald Trump, Lighthouse Global and many others?
  2. How can the BBC and its staff criticise members of Lighthouse Global — including Paul S. Waugh — along with figures like Donald Trump and the US Government, when you do so using provable lies, while your own characters and competencies are provably and evidentially far inferior to theirs?
  3. How necessary do you believe it is for the BBC and BBC Verify to be verified by citizens in addition to media regulators? And Why?
  4. What further comment do you have in response to the articles “The End is Nigh for the BBC… Verify That?!” and The BBC’s ‘Progressive Madness’: Insider Exposes BBC Toxic Bias?

Lastly, we will shortly be publishing an article on you, and we’re looking for comments from you and your BBC colleagues about your blatant lies on your CV regarding your previous work experience. What comment do you have on what this says about you, your character and your ability to fulfil your role as Social Media Investigations Senior Correspondent for BBC News?

For the purposes of transparency, we will publish this request for comment along with any response.

We look forward to your comments and answers.

Resolutely,

Citizen BBC Verify

Conclusion: The Big Question For The BBC Verify Team & For You

The issues raised in this correspondence are bigger than one journalist, one programme or one department. They concern whether an entire multi-billion pound institution (force-funded by the British public to reach a global audience) is prepared to apply to itself the same standards of truth, verification, transparency and accountability that it says they demand from everyone else.

Can the BBC legitimately verify others while refusing equivalent scrutiny of its own work?

Why does meaningful accountability arrive only when powerful individuals, major legal actions or overwhelming public pressure make silence impossible?

The question now echoes in the BBC halls… who is verifying the BBC Verify?

Citizen BBC Verify will continue to investigate, document and publish evidence in the genuine public interest. A team dedicated to truth would surely relish the accountability that they, as flawed human beings, could never provide to themselves.

If you believe truth should apply equally to everyone — including those who claim authority to define it for others — register here to stay informed, receive future investigations, and learn about developments relating to the proposed Class Action against the BBC.

Stay informed.

Follow the evidence.

Ensure the BBC are verified, and its victims are compensated.

Will you join us as citizens in verifying BBC Verify?

Who verifies BBC Verify? That was the question on the lips of journalists and members of the public alike. I appreciate that Citizen BBC Verify is not only looking to ask the question, but that it is also providing an answer in the process.

It says a great deal about the hubris of the BBC to not expect to be asked this question when they launched this initiative. That said, it was announced by someone who deemed it acceptable to cut and splice the words of Donald Trump as the US President, until he instigated a multi-billion dollar lawsuit against the BBC!

Thank you for publishing this email. I have a strong suspicion there will be no response. A combination of toxic pride, fear of accountability and avoiding the truth where it does not suit them at all. But this email is another mark on the public record. As time goes by, this will mark an opportunity not taken by Marianna Spring and the BBC that they ought to have. It will precursor much good work by Citizen BBC Verify in holding the BBC totally accountable for their crimes and wrongdoing.

I sincerely hope that Marianna Spring and the BBC Verify team respond to this email and are willing to begin the process of verifying themselves.

We all fall short. For the BBC, or anyone else, to present themselves as though they do no wrong while investigating others, yet fail to apply the same scrutiny within their own four walls, is a serious concern—particularly when they are funded by the public. Something needs to change in that regard, and I believe that change begins with Citizen BBC Verify.

Thank you for bringing this article and letter together.

God bless.

Wonderful email. Thank you. I can’t share too much publicly at this stage but I can assure you that BBC Verify lacks credibility and any desire to verify what the BBC does. It is a disgrace to journalism.

BBC Verify, similar to the BBC, does not take responsibility for its actions. It attacks people and acts as though it stands for truth while not looking at itself or dealing with its own internal issues and the problems that exist within the organisation.

Almost on a weekly basis, new scandals come to light, and the question is: who verifies BBC Verify?

That is why I appreciate a campaign like Citizen BBC Verify, which aims to ensure transparency about the BBC and its real agenda, along with all its scandals.

This is absolutely the right question and it’s one the BBC can’t afford to answer because with that, they expose themselves for their blatant astronomical levels of arrogance, self righteous entitlement and hypocrisy. The question I also have is, why aren’t all the other media channels and press publishers asking this same question? Why aren’t they scrutinising the BBC? Why aren’t they constantly challenging the BBC on the continuous and ongoing revelation of heinous behaviour, abuse and exploitation happening within the BBC, let alone the gaslighting, blatant lying, manipulation and fraud they continue to commit all in the name of ‘public interest’? The public interest is to know how the BBC explains itself and can morally and ethically justify its existence based on its past and ongoing history, let alone its funding! Hmm, maybe it’s because the rest of the press and media are having their strings pulled by the same establishment puppet masters and only jab at the BBC now and again in order to appear as though they’re not completely giving them a free reign. It’s all one big lie and it’s time citizens without Establishment ties hold them to account.

Thank you for this letter… the double standards of the BBC are exposed again for their hypocrisy and lack of integrity…and it is very unlikely that there will be a response and an answer to the question: “who is verifying the BBC verify?”
The entire licence fee paying public have a right to know the answer to this question but Ms. Spring has already proven herself untrustworthy with the lies she has told on the CV….so we are already off to a terrible start!

The fact that the BBC hired someone who lied on their CV rather than someone with a verifiably spotless record, and then didn’t fire them shows that this is a performative position, not at all a genuine role for a person of integrity. What a joke. It’s insulting that they think we ought to take them seriously

Thank you for sharing this email to Marianna Spring. How can an organisation that clearly goes against the public interest have something like BBC Verify? They clearly do not verify the facts given to them; they even manipulate them to suit themselves. I pray that they now look at this and answer the questions that you have asked, if not back to you, for themselves, so that they can and will look closer at what they are doing, and I pray, make changes.

They have a massive lawsuit against them with President Trump and what they did to him, but what they did to Paul was worse, because this was an outright attempt to murder Paul and what he stands for. It was also an attack on God.

Powerful article, thank you to everyone for bringing this together…

Great point. There ought to be public scrutiny of the BBC, given that we, the public, are paying for it. They themselves need to come under verification. Too many disgusting things have been happening under their roof.

The existence of BBC Verify automatically calls into question the credibility and integrity of the whole BBC News department.
If they need a separate division to make sure that facts are reported accurately, then what is everyone else in the BBC doing? I thought that was what news reporting was all about?! Verifying facts and reporting on them?!?

In line with this basic reality, the only way that BBC Verify could ever gain credibility itself, would be to act as the internal watchdog for the accuracy and truthful reporting of the BBC News department.

That would be welcomed, but the ‘do as I say and not as I do’ attitude of the whole BBC is diabolical to the core.
